PROJECT OVERVIEW
In 2019, after our team completed the Transit Collection for spring and fall collections, we began developing The Storm Series, a waterproof bag collection. Featuring HF-welded seams, water-tight zippers, and adaptable exterior details.
These accessory packs were designed and inspired by CHUMS customers who love both water and outdoor adventures, who need their daily necessities dry, no matter the conditions.
Below is an overview of the stages that brought this collection to life.
Trend, Market, and Color Research
Before diving into designing this collection, the CHUMS Product Development team and I curated our annual trend deck, presenting these market and trend themes to the leadership team for approval.

Initial Vision + Sketches
If you have scanned a few other projects that I created alongside the CHUMS product development team, you know that we sketched, brainstormed, and refined dozens if not a hundred different iterations for each design. This is the calm before the storm, the collaborative, and enjoyable process of bringing wild ideas to life with pen, paper then translating these concepts into technical schematics, onto lineplans, and into vendor product files for our factory partners.

Final Products
These items came out exceptionally well for their price-point, packability, and practical design.
The original grey, black, and blue color-way is still available in 2024. A fun addition since 2019 has been the addition of a camo print in these items as well as several new accessories added to CHUMS water bag assortment.
